I Has The Needz…

July 31st, 2007 by TheMissingNin

… The Needz For Speedz. Just got back from a driving lesson, and tonight was the fastest I’ve ever driven ever; an amazing 45 miles per freaking hour. That’s some tokyo drift shit right there.

So I took my father HDTV shopping today, it’s always good to be pre-emptive with my folks, and use them to fill in the awkward social things like talking and stuff. We, ofcourse, ended up talking to a master salesman. I told him that I wanted this (imagine me doing a sizing hand motion here) size of TV and he went right up and sold me on the most expensive model. HERE it is if you want to check out the specs, I was told that it was the best seller on the market for it’s size, but that could be BS. Nevertheless I’m going to pick it up on thursday, I think I’ll get free installation along with my free 5 year warranty, just to see how competant a job those guys do. I’ll never let them touch my consoles though, never in a bajillion years.

This ofcourse presents the a most interesting dilemma. What the hell am I going to play first on the thing? I’m sort of annoyed that there’s not any awesome 360 titloe coming out this week, or even last week, for me to buy and enjoy all the way through in HD. I guess I’m going to have to wait til the end of August to pick up BioShock, then Halo 3 the month after, then GTA4 the month after that. I guess I shouldn’t be complaining.

I kinda dug myself into a hole. You see, for me the only thing greater than a new game to test out my sexy new TV would be a new console, a new HD ready console that’s so expensive that my parents deem it fit to essentially cut me off, though I never expressed my extreme want for a PS3, so there’s nothing there to cut off apart from my dreams. I might be able to bend a PS3 out of my budget depending on how much money I make and how much money I get between now and the end of summer. It just would’ve been nice to plug something into a HDMI port.

I saw the Iron Man trailer today, the one haxxored from the Comic-Con event. And wow, that has potential awesomness coming out it’s every orifice. Iron Man could be the film to get Marvel back into the Movie saddle. I want to see that trailer again in HD, just to make sure.

Gaming news is a bit weak today, with PAX and Blizzcon literally days away it should be.

In Azeroth, it seems that the band L70ETC (Level 70 Elite Tauren Cheiften) will be performing every hour on the hour in Shattrath City. I’m going to go and check it out right after this (damn, just missed the 8pm showing), maybe it’s not working on the EU realms yet come to think of it… patch time tomorrow I guess. Story HERE over on WoWinsider

Straight from Comic-Con again comes the new PA-Adventures Trailers, check it HERE. lol @ “lay out fools FOR REALS!”. I really hope that this game gets the whole Episodic thing right, being at the speed of the Sam and Max stuff, but hopefully lengthier. The turn based RPG stuff is very reminicent of FFVII with a couple of other JRPG’s thrown in their too, which entrigues me to no end, though that doesn’t mean that I think it couldn’t suck.

Until tomorrow…

Orange Mocha Frappuccino!

July 30th, 2007 by TheMissingNin

LoL!

Thanks to the one person that emailed me about the HDTV stuff and thanks to the no people that commented, your thoughtful insight helped me considerably in my internal thoughts to the HDTV crisis. Seriously though, you guys are jerks. And what’s with emailing me? why can’t you just leave a comment on the blog? I did unlock the damn thing and all I’ve gotten so far is retarded spam from fucking drikadirkastan asking me if I want breast enlargements.

Infact I’m going to look for a HDTV tomorrow if all things go well. Against my better judgement, but agreeing with my parent’s judgement (because lets face it, aren’t we paying too little for consumer electronics? God forbid we buy it for less on the interwebs), I’m probably buying it locally. This could actually mean that I could walk home with a new TV tomorrow. They do sort of owe me for the whole “we’re abandoning you to go to italy for a week, go live with your grandmother in the stone age” thing.
But that’s optimistic.

So someone somewhere got a hold of some of the Radio Adverts that are going to be played over the GTA4 radio stations. Transcrips mind you, not the real thing, and I’m sure that the real thing will be funnier. Check it out HERE over on Kotaku if you don’t care about the spoilers. The other thing that caught my eye today is the next Fable 2 video diary thing… It’s got alot of talkey talkey moleneux stuff going on, so if you’re up for it check it out HERE.

And finally today, an awesome announcement, one that makes me want a PS3 more. That’s right! You Guessed It!! ZOMG!! DRAGONBALL Z ON BLUE RAY!!!111!!! The trailer will explain all:

I will buy this.

I suddenly have the urge for a frozen orange drink, possibly with caffine in it…

Parents are Idiots

July 28th, 2007 by TheMissingNin

… and for once I’m not talking about my own. Halfway through my bus ride to aberdeen this morning, the bus stopped in ellon to pick up some more passengers. Out from the bus shelter trooped 8 kids and 6 mothers, bound for aberdeen. Sign of stupidity #1: This was the 9am bus from fraserboring with a tonn of stops along the way, there’s no way there’s going to be enough room for you all and your stupid kids. If you’re going through to aberdeen with so much people, fucking plan ahead and get a fucking mini-bus or something. I could see the driver writhing in pain as this troupe of mothers took huge raping advantage of the “Family Travel Ticket”. Secondly, if I have to move my bad to let you sit down, it means I really don’t want you too, and to keep your freaking kids away from me. Their inane chatter almost drove me to a migrane. I thought about taking out the Nin-Top and watching something that I had stored on it’s drive, something that would fuck the kid, sitting on her mother’s lap, right up. The kind of stuff that would mess you up until you’re 10. Anime with actual Blood. They would never look at Pikachu the same way again. Thank fuck they got off the bus on Union Street and didn’t ride all the way to the station.

So my plan for a film trifecta was somewhat foiled by the cinema not opening early enough. I did a little shopping, picked up two more of the Penny Arcade books and the newest volume of Naruto on DVD, which assure’s me that there’s a keychain inside.

The first film I saw today was Transformers. If you’re reading this, you need to see it, if you don’t I’ll do something nasty to you. don’t know what, but I’m sure I can think of something. Look above for examples of my evility. Seriously though, if you like Michael Bay, the old Transformers, Megan Fox or, you know, life, you need to see this film. 10/10 best film of the year, no matter what else is released before 2008.

Then I went to see the simpson’s movie, because Potter was hours out of my grasp. You don’t need to see this. It’s a waste of your time, I seriously considered walking out twice, and if it weren’t for the row load of people I would have to climb over I probabaly would have. I think I laughed once, and it was more of a snigger. LEARN TO ANIMATE YOU FUCKING RETARDS. I’ve seen alot of animated things in my time and that was just trash, how many years have you been working on this thing? Other than that this Movie needed to come out about 8 years ago when all the jokes were new, not when the simpsons is a giant shell of a clish’e. Seriously, hurry up and bring back futurama. And don’t go to see Simpsons The Movie.

And now I’m here, in Cafe-Lan. Dear god this place is relaxing. If only they still did the Pizza’s they used to do, I could spend alot more time here. I wish I took my mouse.

Shopping for a HDTV is being somewhat problematic. I go into John Lewis or Curry’s and get instantly distracted by the biggest shineyest TV there, or the one that happens to be playing that year-old Halo 3 trailer. If anyone has any help for me on the subject. I found THIS place through Google, that assures me that THIS is the best LCD that you can get. But I look at the LCD’s in the shops and what they’re showing looks like shit. I’m sure that most of that is down to the fucktards in the store not setting them up right, but I can’t help but feeling unsure. Plasma’s have obviously a better picture than LCD’s but I don’t think I could get one that was around the 30” size and costs about £400-£500. I really need help with this. Please send me your links. Preferences are above.

A couple of trailers and such popped up on the interwebs that interest me.

First there’s the LOST videogame. Now judging by the trailer, this could be really really bad, or really really good. And could be the reinvention of the 3D Adventure genre, something that has yet to appeal to me. You can catch the trailer HERE on Gamevideos because someone’s not hacked the damn thing any youtubed it yet. I’m excited for this, but we’ll see how much it rapes the franchise on a later date. Whilst on the subject of TV shows, aparantly the Heroes videogame is supposed to show it’s head in the next couple of days, since Comic-Con’s going on right now or something. Again, I’m excited for that too, but only because I’m a fan of the show and there’s always impending rape when it comes to these things.

Penny Arcade’s released some more footage of their upcoming game. It’s gameplay too. Check it out HERE. I find it odd that it’s that kind of RPG and it’s going to be on a PC. I’m sure that there’ll be alot more info on this game in a couple of weeks when PAX happens.

Well I’m off to trawl the rest of the internet for interesting things, then maybe I’ll go and get a burger. I haven’t eaten all day. Then it’s home to grandma’s for some sleep, shower and naruto before I return to the trenches tomorrow (i.e. my house, with my parents).

Proving that Work is better than Grandma’s house

July 26th, 2007 by TheMissingNin

Yey! I haxxored a connection at work, which given the circumstances invoving this connection, is pretty impressive. It seems that I have to sit exactly where I am sitting or the dodgey wireless connection will not connect, anywhere else and windows tells me that I’ve got Limited Access. Remember me saying that I have a tonn of downtime at work? Well I’m writing this when I really should be working, so I could get cut off at any time. Though I really deserve this due to the shit that went down this morning.

So the few things that I found worth blogging about in my short forey into the internets today are as follows.

There’s a new Rock Band Trailer out. It shows little of anything. I’m a little annoyed that they used Suffragette City, which they totally overplayed with another 2 songs at E3. I’m not a great fan of Bowie either, except in film form (read: Zoolander). He should do more than that. I’m really anxious to see how broad the songs are in RB, like if they extend to my regions, Linkin Park and Lost Prophets, if you know what I mean. Advertise some freaking metal, none of this old shit. I had a fleeting thought the other day that Slipknot’s Duality would be awesome to play with 3 other people, it’s fast and metally, which Is what I’m really after in my Rock Band experience. The Metallica albums help a little. Here’s the Trailer, that was the perfect oppertunity to show off a new song:

I see that there’s some new GTA4 info. I haven’t read it yet, but I know that Neo-Gaf is bagging on a couple of the screenshots, fuck them, they’ll love the game regardless. HERE’s Gamespot’s version of the new info.

Finally there’s the release of Pure Pwnage episode 14, of which I’m trying to currently torrent. It’s saying 16 mins until it finishes, and I’m very inclined to hang around after work if need be. I suggest you torrent it too. HERE’s the link to the download page.

Chances are that I’m heading through to Aberdeen on Saturday for the first time in about two months. My goal is to get in early and see the only showing of Die Hard 4 still running, then I could potentially see three other films that day. Transformers definitely. Simpsons if I want to kill myself. Potter if I can trust some friend’s review.

I’ve got a little booster draft to attend tonight, and I’m confident that I could 1st or 2nd place it, that is if I get there on time. I’ve got stuff to do, gtg. I’ll see if I can post something else up tomorrow, should time allow for it.

Heading Out: Parents = Italy, Me = Fraserboring

July 20th, 2007 by TheMissingNin

I’m unsure why they won’t let my reside in the house for a week whilst they are away, sure they give reasons, but valid ones? I think not. It’s not like it’s my house anymore anyways, hell I’ve not been here in spirit for years now. I just want a place that has me, working amenities and a high-speed internet connection. I’m not going to argue my point, simply because my points will not benifit them and what’s the point of agruing if I’m just going to lose. May I note that I am not receiving a Key for said house.

I’m being shipped off to my grandma’s. She can’t cook, can’t leave me alone, Has no internets what-so-ever and has some really annoying habits and her house smells like old people. Sure, she’s nice to me, but that doesn’t make me want to live with her. I’ll try my best to post something when I’m away. My grandmother lives in Fraserboring, which is located within a 15 minute bike ride of my wireless router, that will be left turned on in a secretive manner. I will take periodic jaunts past my house, dwelling on the doorstep for several hours a day, fully charged laptop in hand. Let’s hope that I won’t need to reset the damn router, then I’m fucked.

All I’m taking with me is really my Laptop and DS, along with Laptop and DS related products. Travelling light has always done me well in the past. Whilst it is not the weight or mass of what I take with me, but the Gigabytes of data that the items hold that should keep me occupied. Pokemon might get played and House Season 2 might get watched (should it finish downloading before I’m kicked out).

I’m still going to post, though maybe not in an online manner. I will cronicle my decent into madness via my laptop and post what I’ve wrote when I return to my glorious dual cored, dual GPU’d, 8 megabyte streamed silicone paradise that I sit at right now.

Until next week I leave you with the recently released video for L70ETC’s “I Am Merloc.
