Pagoda of Gaming

I have no idea why, but my network has been really laggy the past couple of days, so I haven’t been able to stream any video and I have to wait about 5 minutes for a webpage to load. So I’m pretty short on news today. Nothing infact, of what I saw caught my eye. Anyways…

On the shit hitting the fan, only half of said shit was really hit. I have resorted to switching courses to Games Production Management. That’s all really. Had the transfer not happened or had been rejected, I would’ve been totally screwed and therefore more of a failure than I already am. So I am infact going back to fundee in about a fortnight. I guess it took so long to sort it all out because I was really puzzled as to what to do. I wasn’t sure if I was wanting to go back for the right reasons. Was I simply going back to keep myself out of fraserboring? Or was really going back to learn? I guess I’m going back for both, which was the reason I was looking for all along.

I couldn’t really handle CGT last year. It was the maths and physics that really fucked me, I just cannot do that shit. My only choises were to hope to hell that they let me repeat first year and try as hard as fuck to maybe pass again, hand in enough extra work to pass me and I do second year and probably dail there or do what I did and transfer to something that I can probably handle.

If the shit hut the fan in any way at all, it would have to bee my current housing situation. Of which I currently have none, especially when people jump ship without little warning. I can’t really blame them, I wouldn’t want to live with me either. I only found out today too that my housing plans are in the gutter.

*sigh*

So when I haven’t been sleeping or watching 24 or working, which really hasn been the content of the past two days, I’ve been slowly getting back into Pokemon. I got a friend to use my DS and game to genrate as much starter pokemon as he wanted, aslong as I was left with a set of three to start a new with. So all I’ve been doing is leveling them to a decent amount so they can take on the first gym and I’ve added a Starly and a Shinx to the par to beef it up, now all I want is a Abra, which is easier said than done… May I note that said friend is a lucky bastard, he found a shiny Ponyta in the woods, caught it, put it on the Global Trade System and ended up with a level 100 version of whatever it is on the freaking pokemon Diamond box.

‘Nin Out!

That was one awesome orgy of Bioshocking I did this weekend. I finished the game just minutes ago and thought I’d come and tell the world.

You really need to play this, infact, just stop reading this right now and load up steam or go to your local purveyor of gaming good and throw down your £40. I can seriously say that this is the best game that I have played this entire year and is a high contender for the Game of the Year top spot. I got 43/50 achievements, and I really want to play it through another two ( I think) times to get the other 7. On my first playthrough I got the lesser of the multiple (two?) endings, simply because I harvested alot of a certain something, and if I have one little problem with the game is that it doesn’t let you back in to explore the city ‘ala GTA. Apart from that and a couple of weird bugs in the game, it is a solid 10/10.

I don’t really want to talk much about the ’shock (that’s what we’re calling it now), because really, the more I talk about it the more I feel that I’ve degenerated your experience of the game you’re playing/about to play. I’ll maybe talk more once I’ve played it through again. And it will probably be the weekend before I do so again, it’s really the type of game I like to sit down with, and get a weekend addiciton over and done with before I have to return to the crap on monday, ya feel me broh?

Good news for rockstar, Manhunt’s been modified and rerated at a M-For-Mature in the US, the expected release date is on Halloween. Check out the whole story HERE over on Kotaku. I hope they speed the fuck up and legalise it for the UK too. But hell, I’d be totally surprised if it even comes out here at all, cue the blame-shifting parents.

PaX happened at the weekend too, an I missed most of the breaking news due to the ’shock, but there’s some nice info that came out of it. Check HERE at gamespot for their huge amount of video footage and Check HERE for clips of the panels/concerts etc. I’m quite annoyed that the panels weren’t covered in a greater detail, the same way that the E3 press conferences were, even if it were audio of the events, it makes me feel a little less like a gamer not being at these things, audio would heal som wounds.

Though this ad does teach you a lesson; being a streetwise black guy makes you win at halo, being and swearing in foreign doesn’t. I’m sorta sad to not see any of these marketing tie-ins happening over here, since alot of you will admit, I’m a whore for that kind of stuff. A Halo theme’d version of Irn-Bru would be my dream.

So I picked up Bioshock today. Haven’t played it yet. I really want to make the experience as pure as i can get it. That basically means “play it when I know I’m going to be the only one in the house”. Which will be tomorrow. Tonight I’ll be playing WoW, maybe some pokeymans and maybe some XBLA games (trying and buying). I also want to get started on 24 season 3 before my grandparents (i kid you not) want it back to watch themselves.

Speaking of pure experience, my parents just returned home and fucked all over my feng-shway.

So what’s annoying me today… Ah release dates… again.

So I’m fucking desperate for some Bioshock, ergo I’ve been browsing my local woolies daily for any broken street dates etc. I go in today and there they are sitting behind the desk in a bick fucking brown box. “I’m sorry, we can’t sell it to you yet, you’ll have to come in on friday”. Maybe I should’ve bribed the bitch, or offered my body, or both. Amooricans have been enjoying “the shock” literally for days now, even on steam, and I can’t enjoy it at the same time. It’s bullshit. Especially on steam, where you’re still paying in United States Dollar but have to wait afew days extra before they literally push a button and make the damn game available here.

Ofcourse, I blame the foreigners, with their weird lifestyles and inability to be born brittish and failure at english so they have to go and make up their own crazy moonspeak. As a sidenote, I’m going to france next year. I’d better bring a shiny object and some fire to fend off the natives.

On the subject of Bioshock, some people are nitpicking, with the whole “fucked up widescreen” and “can’t install it more than twice thing. It’s like you people are looking for bad things to say about the game. Seriously, learn to love steam and learn to deal with 4:3. Atleast you actually have the game now, aswel as getting to complain about it.

Now quickly onto a recurring topic here at the PoG. Guitar Hero and Rock Band. New songs were released today for the GH3. Nice list with all the previous ones on it too, with youtube links for every one, I seriously suggest you check it out. Achievement list, while underwhelming, is nice too, check it. That’s all well and good, but here’s the problem. Rock Band’s been delayed, sortof, until Q1 2008. That’s next year. I’d better get atleast one fucking guitar game this year. There’s something also about exclusive songs from European Bands. Yeh, ok, this is news why? Hasn’t there been european bands in Guitar Hero already, or is it that we’re finally good to have our rock put into games. SHINOBI VERSUS DRAGON NINJA BITCHES! I want some WELSH ALTERNATIVE METAL!!! And I don’t want any fucking Kaiser Chi… shit… too late.

For those conserned with the Dundee stuff, I finally know that I’m actually coming back to the Dun-Dizzle. I’ll contact you within 48 hours. And I started a new WoW character last night to play with some people from back home (who hopefully have some high level characters I can sponge gold off of. It’s Alliance, which is bad, but it’s Draenai, so it’s slightly better. Ukitake on Wildhammer (name taken from a Bleach Character like so many others). Join me if you want.
